Lent Devotion Day 10

Source: International Christian Churches : "LENT: With ONE  Voice"

We are living in a world of social networking, sharing information, pictures and stories through Facebook, Istagram or Twitter. Christians however, must have strong networking systems with the Kingdom of God. The Bible says that we are a new creation in Jesus and also reminds us we are the temple of God and have received the Holy Spirit. If we pour new wine into old wine skins they will burst. The new wine skin is our totally changed personality and character in Christ. We must pour new wine into new wine skins and the Holy Spirit is that new wine. A new person in Christ will have new dreams and visions prompted by God’s spirit and these will transform their life and goals.

Are you transformed in Christ? Jesus said that if you receive the Holy Spirit you will become his witness and will be eager to share the Kingdom of God to this world. Let us taste the new wine!

Mark 2:18-22 The Message (MSG)
Feasting or Fasting?
18 The disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees made a practice of fasting. Some people confronted Jesus: “Why do the followers of John and the Pharisees take on the discipline of fasting, but your followers don’t?” 19-20 Jesus said, “When you’re celebrating a wedding, you don’t skimp on the cake and wine. You feast. Later you may need to pull in your belt, but not now. As long as the bride and groom are with you, you have a good time. No one throws cold water on a friendly bonfire. This is Kingdom Come!” 21-22 He went on, “No one cuts up a fine silk scarf to patch old work clothes; you want fabrics that match. And you don’t put your wine in cracked bottles.”

• Have you received the Holy Spirit? If you have received the Holy Spirit, you will also receive the power of God.
• Are you using his power to live and share the good news in this world?
• What is the most difficult thing to change in your life? The Holy Spirit has power to transform people.

Father God, I confess before you, that though I want to live for you I am often self-centered. I long to be changed more. Lord, pour out your Holy Spirit upon me so that I may be fully transformed and be a Christ-centered person so I can glorify your name.
